Setlist – 04/16/2007
Okay, back again for another week. Whoever that was that called at the top of the hour, right before I keyed the mic, and then HUNG UP RIGHT AS I GOT DONE WITH THE MIC to answer the phone, can you please call back? That was annoying. I’d love to talk to you, but I will not speak on the telephone and the radio at the same time. That’s rude.
Found bunches more local stuff tonight. Some of it looks awesome, some of it I’m not so sure of.
Hope you guys have a good night, drink some good booze, and enjoy my musical selections. I will do my utmost to rock the ones n’ twos for you. Thanks for listening!

Review: COWBOY FENG’S SPACE BAR AND GRILLE by Steven Brust
Steven Brust is awesome – he’s most well-known for his bread and butter, a series of novels loosely based on Hungarian folklore set in the fantasy world of Dragaera, but when he ventures outside that realm he inevitably takes a wonderful concept and executes it perfectly. Cowboy Feng’s Space Bar and Grille is no exception. And it’s set in a time-traveling bar, and revolves around a group of folk-musicians who play a lot of Irish music. Curious? Read on for the full review…

I have more local stuff, which is always … an adventure? This fair city of ours produces lots of music, of varying degrees of quality. You never know what to expect, and I look forward to finding out what happens next… won’t you join me? (Does this sound a little like the homeless, smelly, 40-oz swilling version of Mr. Rogers?)
Also, of course, I have lots of cool stuff from all over the place, as per usual. Thanks for listening. And be sure to check out the review of Cowboy Feng’s Space Bar and Grille and tell me if it’s cool or not. I’ve never written a book-review before. Well, maybe once or twice in grade-school. But that was a long time ago. And it doesn’t really count.

Amusing Commentary On Homer’s Epics…
I heard this on NPR today. Basically, it boils the ancient poems of Homer down to the most arty drinking game ever. It make me laugh.

Review: IN BOCCA AL LUPO by Murder By Death
For the most part, these reviews are going to be positive. I’ll warn you now, I don’t see any point in pointing out mediocrity to you. If a project is so fucking bad you need to be saved from experiencing it, I’ll throw that up here too. But mostly, if a project is so fucking GOOD, then that’s what I’m going to talk about.
This one’s that fucking good.

Exclusive Interview With The Tossers!
That’s right… I mean, it’s not exclusive in that we’re the only people who ever get to interview them EVER, but this is the only place you’ll find THIS interview, and I think that’s what that means.
It goes without saying that last night’s show was absolutely awesome, of course. The Tossers were in fine form as always (as you’ll read, I quite enjoyed the stuff they played off their new album which hit the streets on Tuesday), I discovered that Murder By Death is absofuckinglutely fanfuckingtastic, and as far as the Reverend Horton Heat goes… he’s the Reverend Horton Heat. ‘Nuff said.
The Tossers were kind enough to let me n’ Tommy from Dog Germs hop on their tour-bus and shoot-the-shit all journalistic-style after the show. The interview is transcribed in full below; I resisted the impulse to make myself sound cooler than I really was. The interview was conducted with Tony, Dan, and Bones (vocalist, bass player, and drummer respectively) doing pretty much all the talking, though the rest of the group was in and out. Click ‘More’ to read it.
