Setlist – 02/04/2008
Tonight, one night only, the fabulous Rev. D-Ray and the Shockers brand new album in its entirety. That’s right, I’m gonna play the whole damn thing. Why? Because the whole damn thing is awesome and I want to fill you with awe. Got that? For the record, I will be beeping out the f-bombs, and speaking in between the tracks occasionally, so for the full and awesome experience, you’ll need to pick up the CD. Which will be very easy to do on Valentine’s Day, as Rev. D-Ray is playing there that night, at an even they’re calling the Heartbreaker’s Ball. Which, no doubt, will be spectacular. And fill you with spectacle.

Music! Non-stop! Even featuring some techno-pop!* I have tons of godawful New Country type stuff, but it’s godawful in an endearing, cheesy, over-the-top boozy way, so while you may have to grit your teeth, you should enjoy it. I did. I will probably never play them again because, in terms borrowed from The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, they’re funny-once. But it’s all in good fun!
I also have some pretty wretched hip-hop, because today is the most schizophrenic and morally wrong holiday evar, Lee Jackson King Day, so I feel black music should be as represented as redneck cracker music. Right? Right! Also some hardcore, some dancy electronica stuff, and some regular ole’ rock. It’s a typical night here at Mother’s Milk.
UPDATE: Some quick internet research determined that Tommy from Dog Germs (Tuesday Night, 1AM-3AM) was WRONG and today is NOT Lee Jackson King Day. The state got a sense of the appropriate and split the holiday up in 2000, and apparently it’s Lee-Jackson Day Friday and MLK Day Monday (today). Or something like that. Oh well. I’m gonna play a bunch of hip-hop n’ cracker music anyways. 🙂

Oi! Ready to go, tonight, hopefully with fewer wretched technical problems than the last time I sat in. Hope you guys had fun with another greatest-hits addition overseen by my wonderful replacement, last week. I had great fun seeing My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult at Rocks, and am ready to rock again.
Ran into an old friend – I used to sell him beer when he was underage, because he looked like some other customer who I had already carded. This is why you get carded every time you go to the damn store; people like me are forgetful. Still, neither of us ever got in trouble for it, so I’m glad it worked out. Anyways, he requested some crusty stuff, so after this first set, I’m going to jump right on that and play some loud, gritty, obnoxious music that almost no one wants to hear. It’ll be awesome. Show’s running the gamut as per usual; we’re all over the place, and hopefully you dig it.

Gogol Bordello – Alcohol
