Tonight’s collection of tunes is even more random than last week’s. For god’s sake, we’re going to Bulgaria, and I’ve even got a commercial for wine coolers featuring Ringo Starr. It’s great! As always, there’s a wonderfully eclectic mix of solid rock n’ roll, country, blues, n’ traditional to go along with the noisy, the experimental, and the insane.
Drink with me!

… at last, Live Album Month is done and I get to spin 2 hours of disparate, eclectic, alcoholic tunes. I love the live albums, but it was starting to get frustrating. Tonight, I have a great selection of boozin’ music. To name-check a few genres, we’ve got some German metal, some Cambodian pop, some great classic punk, some blues, some jazz, some rock, some country… and THAT’S NOT ALL. At least one genre we’ll be playing was not mentioned. 🙂
Thanks for tuning in, setlist follows as I construct it with my own blood, sweat, and tears. And bourbon. Everything’s better with bourbon.

Who knew March would have FIVE Mondays this year? Not me! I do now, though. And I’m ending Live Album Month with a big ole’ bang – MOTORHEAD. DOUBLE-LIVE-ALBUM. ALMOST TWO WHOLE HOURS. Yeah, I reckon’ this’ll be the longest live-album I ever play here. It’s from their 30th anniversary show at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2005, and it’s a delightfully raucous, gritty, live n’ loud, in your face, hard-drinkin’, hard rockin’ affair.

I think the Doors have two types of songs: the good ones, that are overplayed, and the prentious ones, that should never be played. I’m also quite content with Dennis Leary’s summary of the story of Jim Morrison: “I’m drunk, I’m no one, I’m drunk, I’m famous, I’m drunk, I’m f*cking dead.”
They did write some good songs though, and Jim was the quintessential troubled troubador for his time*, with all the boozin’ and drug abuse that goes with the territory. So he’s appropriate, and I like to fill requests, so that’s the live album tonight. Until then, I have tons of stuff I’ve never played before, and I’m looking forward to playin’ it for you. Click ‘Read More’ to see the setlist as I build it…

Rather than doing an eclectic show of songs where the topic is the only unifier, I’m gonna do a show of songs unified solely by their creator: tonight we showcase Rev. Horton Heat in all his psychobilly glory.
Why? Because we CAN!
No, seriously, that’s why. I finally got enough of his albums that I think I can pull off a full show. If you’re a fan of the Rev, stay tuned, cuz’ it’ll be all awesome, all the time, for the next two hours. If you aren’t familiar with his work… the same applies.
All who know the Rev love him, so those are the only two categories of people that exist, right? Most likely. Anyways, I’ll be listing the songs I play after the break, so just hit ‘Read More’ and see what you’re hearin’.
Next week begins “Live Album Month”, where the last hour of the show consists of a live album from a famously drunk band/performer. I haven’t decided on who I’ll be playing yet, but the Pogues are sure to make an appearance. Thanks for listening!

Baddest of the Bad
Bullet
One Time For Me
Big Red Rocket of Love

I’m starting with some foreign-language pop to mix it up a bit. Mondays are usually so gosh-darned American that I try and avoid that genre. The problem, of course, is that Americana is SO full of wonderful drinking songs. Tonight, I’ll be playing lots of them.
But like I said, we’re starting with some German and Spanish stuff. I’ll ease us back into the Americana slowly, and you won’t even realize that you’ve heard virtually nothing but since five o’clock! It’ll be fun. Stick with me, kid. We’re goin’ places. Etc.
‘Read More’ to see the setlist as I update it. Thanks for listening.
