Concert Info: Rev. Horton Heat and the Tossers!
Two bands I’d pay to see headline for one low price, at the Canal Club tonight. Rev. Horton Heat is simply a classic, doing rockabilly (psychobilly?) like nobody else for decades. The Tossers I’ve seen before, and will see again, as long as they keep touring, cuz’ they’re basically Chicago’s answer to the Pogues, and brilliant.
Doors open at 8:30, tickets are 17.50 (plus 2 bucks, if you buy ’em at Plan 9), and I’ll see you there.

It’s a live performance from their country tour, a couple years ago, available exclusively in the live DVD as a bonus disc, so I assume that most of you guys don’t have it. March Live Album Extravaganza!
Tonight, after around 45 minutes of old-school Mother’s Milk goodness, we’ll be premiering the first live album on Mother’s Milk. A fully drunked-up performance of epic proportions, it’s the Pogues, on their first reunion thingy with Shane MacGowan, in 2001. So listen for that, a’ight? I’ll be updating this with the setlist, once the show starts.
Okay, journey begun; hah, this Angel track is tripping me out. It makes me want to hear some Tangerine Dream. Anyways, here’s what’s been played so far:
The Yahoos – Gettin’ Drunk
Octane Saints – Jailbait
Rev. Horton Heat – Gin and Tonic Blues
Angel – On the Rocks
Mick Harvey – Demon Alcohol
And here’s some more music, now that I’m playing the POGUES, I can get this up to date:
Alkaline Trio – Cooking Wine
Virgin Prunes – Baby Turns Blue
Guided By Voices – Whiskey Ships
WASP – Blind In Texas
——————–
Pogues Live At Brixton, 2001:
Streams of Whiskey
If I Should Fall From Grace With God
Boys From the County Hell
The Broad Majestic Shannon
Young Ned of the Hill
Turkish Song of the Damned
Rainy Night in Soho
Tuesday Morning
Rain Street
A Pair of Brown Eyes
Repeal of the Licensing Laws
The Old Main Drag
Thousands Are Sailing
Body of An American

The Month of March
March is going to be a little different for the show. The first portion of the show will, as always, feature a diverse and divine collection of thoroughly intoxicated music but the last half (or thereabouts, depending) will feature a live album, in it’s entirety, by a thoroughly booze-driven band. The line-up right now is The Pogues, The Clancy Brothers, Swingin’ Udders, and The Supersuckers. I haven’t quite set it in stone yet, so I’m not sure which live performance by each group I’ll be featuring (except for Swingin’ Udders; that’ll be ‘Live In a Dive’; I just got it and it kicks ass), and it’s possible I’ll substitute artists, but basically it’s going to be a full live album played all-the-way-through with no interruptions except those mandated by the station.
So if you’re oldschool, throw a blank tape in the tape-deck and press the record when it starts. I guarantee absolutely kick-ass music by some awesome and booze-centric artists. Why not get a whole album for free?

Concert Info
Hey, this is going to be a regular feature, where I mention any concerts coming through the RVA area that might appeal to my listeners. The first one is a band I’m not too sure I like a LOT, but I know I like at least a LITTLE, and I’m damn sure gonna be there to check ’em out. Read on, for the info.

Setlist – 02/12/07
Here we go… first post of a setlist on the official website. This is neat. I can’t wait to sit down and configure this mess so it looks a little more lived in; prolly get to that when I get home tonight, actually. For now, I’m gonna be updating this with the setlist, hopefully as I do it, so you get REAL TIME SATISFACTION instead of having to wait for me to get around to throwing the last few songs in every 20 mins or so. If you’re here, go on n’ leave me a comment. I’d like to know if/when anyone’s checking this out. Read on, for the list.
